- The establishment of Union Mandarin School -
In September 1999 , Union Mandarin School  was established in  Burnaby City, British Columbia, Canada. and  approved on file for the non-profit educational institution by the provincial government. In September 2005,  with the Burnaby School District # 41, cooperation Heritage Language Center was set up in Moscrop Center ─ Moscrop Secondary School. Our School Running Concept is "to have new teaching ideas and give children a successful future."

Union Mandarin School upholds the implementation of "the successful future of children" philosophy of education and the staffs with volunteer attitude, work conscientiously, with love for and dedication to the school.  The number of students has reached more than 400 within 10 years. The number of classes rises to 25 more classes, and the teachers and the volunteers rise to more than 50 people. Our school is one of the largest  Chinese schools in Burnaby. In addition to thanks to the hard working of teachers, we would like to thank the full participation and support of the parents, allowing  children to learn mandarin more lively with family. Our outstanding academic quality is  the leader of Mandarin Schools in the Greater Vancouver.

More and more professionals from universities, government and private enterprise are becoming involved in China.  At Mandarin School, we understand these needs, so we have developed our MSL courses with an aim to introduce such professionals with interests in China-related projects to Mandarin (or Putonghua as the language is known in Chinese) Chinese communication skills and cultural proficiency, so that they can operate effectively in their spheres of professional interest.

★MSL PROGRAM WILL DEVELOP

· Mandarin oral communication skills for a variety of situations
· Reading and writing skills using Chinese characters

★USING THE BEIJING PIN-YING SYSTEM

The language is taught using the Beijing Pin-Ying system, the most widespread method for teaching Mandarin and also the easiest system for beginners. All teachers are university graduates, and in addition they have also completed courses in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.

· Duration of one semester: 4 months, 15 weeks
· Easy learning: 2 hours 45 minutes, every Saturday/per week
· Schedule: 1:30 PM - 4:15 PM every Saturday afternoon
